Junior League (for women) and Softball and Golf Leagues. Kenan Center, which is for arts, music and humanities type programs.
In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.
Lockport and the Buffalo area are diverse. There are high populations of African Americans, Asians and Hispanics. The younger generations are more accepting of differences than the older.
What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?
Delphi Thermal Systems (GM) and the Lockport School District are the two largest employers Lockport. Manufacturing and teaching jobs are most common. People network, use classifieds and Internet to find job.
If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.
Don't be afraid of the rumors you hear about the harsh winters. They are longer than normal, but not necessarily any worse than any other city near the Great Lakes. (Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit etc.)
