An Expat Talks about Living in Zug, Switzerland

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Zug

How long have you lived there?

9 months

In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.

Not at all! I know a lady, married to a Swiss from the Italian part of Switzerland. She told me that she did not give her two boys Italian first names (their last name is Italian) because they will be discriminated!!! Have in mind that the lady is supposedly educated and young! It bothers me how she promotes racism with her actions.

If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.

Be very careful with housing; My personal experience with my landlord was horrible to say the least&. GERB. OSWALD AG ZUG - the landlord - was not receptive to any problems and on top totally dishonest. According to the Swiss you have no rights if you are not Swiss-it doesnt matter that you pay the rent. In general, I found this part of Switzerland extremely racist and discriminative, the people fake, and their social standard pretty low. Their youth has an extreme drug problem but the adult world camouflages it pretty good.
