Comments Print

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Hicksville

What activities, clubs and organizations would you recommend to newcomers to help them meet others?

Some suggestions- church, temple, etc. Continuing ed programs are available at the high school or college. Exercise, dance, sports teams, clubs are also popular. You can volunteer at the museum, library or hospital.

In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.

The town is semi-diverse - Caucasian, Hispanic, Indian and the minority would be African American.

If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.

Well, it depends upon their situation. If they were single or newlyweds or senior citizens... the schools are not that well perceived anymore after the elementary level. The homes are good starter homes, but not some place that you would plan to retire. Hicksville has changed a lot since I grew up there. I love the town for sentimental reasons but would not move there myself if I was investing in a home.
