Sumit is a very diverse town with residnets of varying backgrounds and homes ranging from $200,000 to well over a million. There are also several hundred apartment and condo units as well as 2 low income and a subsidized senior housing complex. There are 10 churches and 2 synagouges in town.

Summit is home to a major pharmecuetical firm and a Chemical research operation as well as 2 hospitals. Many residents work in neighboring towns at Lucent (Bell Las), AT&T, major fincancial, publishing and pharmeceutical firms.

Summit is a bedroom community with the majority of its adults commuting to work in NYC or northern NJ. The town has many civic, social and recreational activities, especially for children

Summit has a very good school system, is a safe place to live and offers many municipal services with relatively low propery taxes compared to most of the area.
