Expat Advice: Living in Pelham, United States

Comments Print

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Pelham

What activities, clubs and organizations would you recommend to newcomers to help them meet others?

This is a town where families live. If it is family related the kids will probably meet friends at school and then the parents as well. However, I don't think Pelham would be classified as a singles hangout. There are restaurants and a few bars.

In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.

As far as all of the above elelements there is not much diversity. This is primarily a white - middle to upper class town. The main religion is Catholic - as far as I know.

What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?

Since Pelham is a small town there aren't any large corporations. Mostly everything is family run. Most people commute to NYC or out of Pelham.

If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.

It is a great location to live because you are only a 1/2 an hour train ride to the city. It is also a great place to raise a family but this town isn't for the single person.
