What activities, clubs and organizations would you recommend to newcomers to help them meet others?
Nashville Cares - it's a volunteer organization - great way to meet people. Also the Jeff Galloway Marathon training group - this is a fabulous way to meet people and this organization is found in pretty much every major city. So, if you're on a business trip or move to a new city you can hook up with the Galloway running group anywhere in the US. Vanderbilt University downtown Nashville has several interesting events through out the year as well as the Cheekwood Art Museum.
In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.
I think Nashville is a very tolerant and open minded city - as you move futher out of the city you find less liberal minded thinking. TN is primarily Babtist and Christian - but don't quote me.
What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?
Besides the Music industry-Health Care is huge in TN, especially in Nashville and surrounding areas. Best way to find a job is by finding out what companies exist and calling them directly.
If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.
Night's on the Cumberland River. This is a huge social even, bands from all over the country play and it's usually a great way to meet people. This event runs through out the summer, every Thursday eve. starting around 7ish. It's called Dancin' in the District.
