Expat Advice: Living in Frenaros, Cyprus

Comments Print

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Frenaros

How long have you lived there?

6 months

What activities, clubs and organizations would you recommend to newcomers to help them meet others?

The expat population is mainly British and so there are many pubs. I know of no organizations in my area. I do volunteer at the Argos Animal Sanctuary. The is a walking group in the area. There are large Russian and eastern European poulations in Limassol and Larnaca.

In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.

Mainly Greek Orthodox for religion. In Frenaros, there is a mix of British and Cypriots. I find the Cypriots very accepting - all my neighbors are Cypriots.

What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?

Frenaros is a village and there is no real industry in the village. Most of the people work in the nearby town of Paralimni or in the resort areas nearby. So they would be involved in the service industry. There is some farming in the area.

If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.

If you love peace and quiet and a safe environment, this is the place. If you want an active life full of parties and events and need a lot of cultural variety (like museums, theaters, etc.), this is not the place for you.
