What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?
Cincinnati
How long have you lived there?
5 long years
What activities, clubs and organizations would you recommend to newcomers to help them meet others?
Sportsclubs, Scubashops, various commerce clubs.
In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.
Mainly white city. Very bigot. Racially motivated riots in 2001 following police abuse. The word "Black" is whispered when not alone. Racism rules in this city, but nobody would ever admit it. If I were to have a child I would immediately leave this city in order to prevent him or her from being exposed to the mindset here. Most religions are present. Mosque north of the city, majority catholics. Quite a few expats due to major companies in the city. Most people pride themselves on having some european heritage (german or irish) but by all means, this is all american mid-west. Selection of restaurants is miniscule. No wonder, Pizza Hut and Olive Garden are considered "foreign food" by many residents.
What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?
Clerical jobs are generally hired through temp agencies. Newspaper and recruiting agencies produce usually quick results. Many blue chip companies, Procter & Gamble most dominant. All industries present.
If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.
You better have a good job with good pay so that you can put some money aside and can "get the heck out of dodge" asap.
Moving to United States soon?
