Expat Advice: Relationships in Dubai, UAE

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Dubai

What is your current status? Are you single, dating, in a long-term relationship, married or divorced?

Married with 2 children

What is it like in your country of residence for someone with your relationship status (married/divorced/dating)? If you're single, how do you meet other people? Do English-speaking people tend to gravitate to certain parts of your city?

There is a large English speaking expat population here. There is something for everyone. I have met other families through my children's school and just some through work. Most of the others that I work with are single or married but with grown children and grandchildren. There are many many venues here for meeting others.

If you have children, what advice would you give to others making a similar transition to your country of residence?

Get involved with some of the exisiting groups that are here. There are two magazines/publications that lists groups and contact numbers. Use them!

What would be the best advice you could give someone with your relationship status that lives in your country of residence? Any other thoughts?

There are opportunities here, as everywhere, you just have to be open and willing to learn from others, and streach yourself.
