Expat Advice: Relationships in Bangalore, India

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Bangalore

What is your current status? Are you single, dating, in a long-term relationship, married or divorced?

single

What is it like in your country of residence for someone with your relationship status (married/divorced/dating)? If you're single, how do you meet other people? Do English-speaking people tend to gravitate to certain parts of your city?

I feel that i single woman in India is great if you want to stay single. The men here are not from a culture that uses dating to get to know a woman therefore they are very clumsy at it. I am a true romantic and like to be treated nicely with western social graces. This is not easy to find. And why should I? This is not the west. I have come from living in Italy for 15 years which was just the other extreme. The men are quite romantic there. I did not come to India with the intentions of frequenting the foreigners but, that might be the way I will have to go.

If you have children, what advice would you give to others making a similar transition to your country of residence?

I do not have children.

If you do not have children, do you generally spend your social time with other expat couples? If not, what else do you like to do as a couple?

In my future, i will begin go out with the expats. I am not part of a couple but I would like to meet a group that would like to get together for activities i.e. hiking, visiting spas, intellectual discussions.
