Parent's Review of College du Leman in Geneva, Switzerland

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

College du Leman

In what town or city is this school located?

Geneva

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

K-13

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

All of the above

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

There seems to be a good variety of activities, especially for the high school students. We have found the drama productions much better than anything we saw in the States for high school. Really talented kids and some great mentoring by the faculty involved in the productions. The music department seems to specialize in individual lessons, with individual students given opportunity to show their talents, rather than excelling in chorales and/or bands.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

The school needs to work on school-home communications. There is no effort made to encourage parental involvement at the school and/or interractions with each other on the middle or high school level. It makes it hard to know what's going on from day to day!

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There are no social activities that I am aware of for the middle or high school parents.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Although the children benefitted from their friendships with students from so many nations, we were mostly disappointed with our experience with this school. Perhaps things will improve in the future.
