International

preschool-grade 10

bus, car, walk (some?)

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The physical facilities could be much better and the school is trying to move to a more appropriate space.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Excellent ESL teaching. Very good transition routines.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Yes, the PTO is active and they plan a couple of extracurricular activities for the parents. Traditional events are the international foodnight, the UN day, awards night and a lot of other meeting points.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Go ahead! A very good school. Some of the MYP teachers could be stronger in representing their subjects, but in general your child meets friendly, motivated and well prepared teachers in a great international community. It is a pity that the school doesn't offer the IB diploma....

Interesting comment that it offers the IB diploma NOW because my children are going there NOW and they do NOT offer it YET. They are hoping to start it up in August 2012, but I would check first. With only one science lab for Grade 6 and up, it is going to be very difficult and the library is not adequate for the current curriculum. I would say that the school is not "very good" but satisfactory to poor. Does not seem to strive for excellence as there are no competing International schools in Bergen.
