Comments Print

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Dubai American Academy

In what town or city is this school located?

Dubai

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

claims to be American, but primarily Dutch and other Scandinavians and others who can not get into Emirates International School

What grade levels are represented at this school?

K-11

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

parents drive to school

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Its all new and quite antiseptic like a hospital really.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Fortunately my child is no longer at this school. During his stay there he experienced quite a bit of bullying and the teacher and principal and the so called counselor did nothing to intervene. They have misused the name "American Education" as this type of behavior is not tolerated in that system. This is a purely money making organization which is owned by an Indian corporation which owns primarily many other Indian type schools in the area. By calling it "American" they justify charging a high tuition.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Stay away. If you wants the American system apply to the American School of Dubai which has been in existence for the last 40 years and is a non-profit school. If you want international system then apply to the Emirates International School which has the IB program and has been tried and tested for many years.
