What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)
Kuwait National English School
In what town or city is this school located?
Hawalli

British curriculum
What grade levels are represented at this school?
pre-k to IGSE
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
There are a varity of ways. Some go with parents by car, some arrive with their personal driver, some arrive with ther care givers and there is a bus service.
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
They have very good facilites. There is seperate computer room for each department. A full size swimming pool with changing rooms and showers. A full sized gym as well as a cafeteria with a range of foods. A well resoursed art and music room. The early years depertment is very colourful. These colourful rooms could be also used in other departments. There are a wide range of extra-curricular activites available (but which you pay for but the fee is nominal)
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
My children were born here, but the curriculum seems to be well rounded and is on par with other schools.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There are many parent-teacher interviews, almost every two months, and there is a monthy report. There are many social events(probably too many!!) There was a great early years concert recently and it was wonderful!
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
I have found it to be very good and don't quite understand the other negative comments. No school is perfect. The teachers are actually very qualified as well as most assistants. The school is very strict about uniform as well as lateness, absenteeism and security. They call you if you don't come! At least that shows they are mindful of the childs safety, appearance and education. If you are willing to be a very active parent in your childs education then go for it!

guestObviously written by someone with a vested interest in the school. Truth is that it is one of the worst international schools in Kuwait with a very heavy turnover of staff each year. If you wish to have your child to be educated to a reasonable standard? Then look elsewhere - KNES is not the place to consider. The school is supposed to be non profit making and managed by trustees. What actually happens is that the board of trustees consists of the Gharabally family who also hold senior management posts in the school and pay themselves very handsome salaries. Hence the non profit making aspect.
