How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Most children use buses provided by one of the local turkish companies and recommended by the school staff.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

School facilities are nice and well organised however with rather small and limited sport places available.

Our daughter spent four years in MEF. In the begining the school offered a very poor choice of extra-curriculum activities. But with the new and motivated leadership and teachers the school improved extra-curriculum activities very much. The school offered drama classes, swimming lessons, publishing club, dance club, soccer club etc.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

The school offers ESL for students with limited english knowledge. It also provides turkish lessons for beginners.

At the end of our last school year they adviced us how to prepare our children for repatriation.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There is a PTA organised by the school and it worked rather good with participation of great number of parents.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

We were very happy with the school throughout our four years in Izmir (2005 - 2009). Although the school offers a cambridge program our daughter did not have any problems comming back home to the IS with the IB program. She was one of the best students at MEF Izmir and she is one of the best students now at home. Techers at MEF were very good and very dedicated as well as the rest of the school staff. International school MEF Izmir is a very good choice for your children!
