Parent's Review of Future Bilingual School (FBS) in Fahaheel
What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)
Future Bilingual School (FBS)
In what town or city is this school located?
Fahaheel
How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)
Arab school with 'illusion' of American school
What grade levels are represented at this school?
Kindergarten to grade 8
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
Cars. Hanging out of the window usually!
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
The facilities are actually quite good. However, this is used as a smokescreen to prevent parents looking into the rest of the school. Teachers with very little experience and inadequate qualifications are the norm here.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
Nothing is considered too much effort for the administration/management team of this school. This includes writing fictitious reviews. Please take a look at the other review on this website. Perfectly written by someone within the school. This is easy to spot as they have a really good grasp of the english language, grammar, spelling etc. Highly unlikely to come from one of the parents because they are 99% Kuwaiti and non-English speakers!
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There is no parent-teacher organization at this school. That would mean having to answer questions!
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
Don't. (Unless your family have lived within the Fahaheel area for at least 20 years and your boys could accurately be described as 'feral'!)

guestActually there has been a good change in the last two years and there will be even a greater improvement as they hired a very experienced team for the administration management. I heard they are from Canada.
guestHaving taught at the school for the last 2 years I find this to be rather one sided. Yes, the school is made up of Kuwaitie children so Expat children would make up only 1% and most of them are of Arabic descent. Yet, the children are children...very much like all children I taught in the USA over the past 20 years. We have an excellent bus transportation system for those who would like to use it. Yet, many children arrive in cars. Yes, there are some children that are not sitting down in their seats and may hang out windows at times but this has nothing to do with the school. Children being children. I cannot swear to this for I don't have access to all records but I have no information of any teacher not meeting high standards. Everyone I work with has their bachelors degree or even masters in education. Mrs. Nora our director has high standards for her staff and checks all references before we arrive. You can even find a link as to what information she requests from new hires if you google FBS hiring. Parents are encouraged to visit the school and participate when possible. Regular meetings are planned and invitations for parents to visit are scheduled. Teachers are expected to contact parents regularly by email or phone calls. There is not a day that passes where I don't see 75% of my parents or more. The school building is very nice with an incredible pool and theater which is used by the students. I wish we had better play areas with equipment but hopefully with time we will. I would encourage anyone to send their children to FBS. Kathryn Herring Expat from USA
guestEvery school has shortcomings and room for improvement. So is FBS. Yes, last year Ms. Nora hired two great administrators from Canada, the former counselor and the current vice principal. But when she left the school hired a mediocre administration one more time. So, every year there is a sense of instability in the school. Stating that all teachers are qualified is actually not true. In lower elementary most teaching is don by the teacher assistant not the homeroom teachers. But overall, it is an acceptable school.
