Bangalore International School
In what town or city is this school located?

International but with mostly local kids
What grade levels are represented at this school?
K to 12
How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)
Bus
How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
Average
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
Not much, in fact it was a very shocking experience. After my child was admitted to Bangalore International school and after she attended a week at school, The management and head realized that they had gone over the stipulated number of kids who can be admitted per class. I was called in for a meeting only to know that my child needed to be pulled out from school as they could not keep her due to the cap on the number of admissions. The cap was 25 and my child was the 26th. I was threatened not to send the child to school from the following week. I kept my child home and later was given a consolation prize. She was allowed in school but had to sit in the library the whole day without being allowed to join her class and this went on for almost 10 days. So due to the management goof up, my innocent 11 year old had to suffer humiliation.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
Even though this is a parent run school, the parents on the board are mere puppets and have no say in the matter. It is completely controlled by principal. They do not encourage the involvement of parents in any way so that the alleged irregularities do not come under the scanner of the parents.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
A definite NO.

guestI feel really bad that this is the only review about BIS available in this website. Both my children study in BIS since August 2009 and I can't say nothing but great things about the school. It's an Indian environment, it is true, but this means that there is not a hug turnover of students and teachers. The environment is friendly and faculties are really good and very well trained for the Cambridge curriculum. My children are very happy with the school and I have to add that it's been the best thing of the relocation to Bangalore.
guestI am impressed about this review. My experience with BIS it's been amazing and I strongly recommend the school to anybody: Expats and Indians. Everybody in school is kind and helpful and the environment is extremely friendly for both parents and students. I feel this parent had something personal against the school.
guestI feel the school (BIS) at Kothanur, Hennur Road has really degraded under the current Prinicipal. It has fallen out of the rankings of top international schools. Its focus seems to be on making money by charging extra for everything mumdane, admitting more students thus overcrowding the classrooms. The staff both teaching and administrative have become arrogant. The recruitment is being done from not so good institutions. BIS has lost the war for talent and has become a mediocre school run by mediocre people. A sad sight for a once greate school. Criticism is frowned upon and actively discouraged. The atmosphere is filled with negativity.
guestWe are sad to read this kind of review about our school. Our Principal is not new and she is running BIS for more than 10 years. Classrooms are not overcrowded: we have 20 kids per class with one or two teachers working together. Teachers recruited have very good background and we take care of their continuous training and update their qualifications constantly. Our grade 12 students achieve very good results and get admissions in very good Colleges/Universities all around the world including India. Admin staff and teachers are always available to talk with parents and students. Because criticisms are always welcomed we thought it was needful to respond to this aggressive and not real review. We invite all parents to visit BIS and find out how seriously we work starting from the transparent admission process.
