In what town or city is this school located?

Cumbaya

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Most of the students live in the area so they walk, drive, bike or take the public bus.

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The facilities are first rate and the University continues to grow. This year they have recently added a Veterinary Clinic and a health clinic open to the public. They have satellite campuses in Riobamba and Galapagos. The extra-curricular activities rival any US universty, ie... sports, theatre, arts.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

The University works similiar to a US university in that it offers a bachelor degree. They use the College Board exam for admittance. There are many courses actually taught in English. I was told that this depended upon the instructor.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

The University offers a great many cultural opportunities to the general public.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

You must come to the campus to see. It is a nice little campus in the upscale community of Cumbaya. Tuition runs about $6,000 per semester and $1500 for the summer semester. They do offer financing through the University as well as scholarships to top performing students. Class sizes are small and there are a wide variety of programs of study available. It is a nice option to the expensive US colleges.
