Comments Print

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

British School of Amsterdam

In what town or city is this school located?

Amsterdam

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

Follows British school laws

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Nursery to Year 9

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

with parents, walk, tram and school bus

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Ok. Nothing special about this school.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Absolutely nothing considering the curriculum I know from USA where we had been previously and India.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

The school is good in social activities, however it has too much of a donation system in everything.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

I have not found the staff to be accurate in providing feedback for my kids. They have a generic sentences copy pasted on everyone's reports and no valuable output can be drawn as an actual feedback. It's more like hearing praises of your child.

Are you kids still at the British school - has it improved at all? Looking at relocating to Amstelveen but nervous about the schooling. I have 2 girls both of whom are in the mid-higher ability in their years at primary. Concerned that with a large proportion of students having Enlish as their second language - is their the possibility of my own kids not being challenged enough?
