Comments Print

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Canadian International School (Singapore)

In what town or city is this school located?

Singapore

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

ECE through 12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Bus and local transport

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

The school is building a new facility (due to be completed in June of 2005) Most extra-curricular activities are available.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Curriculum has an international flavour that transends national boundaries. My children are receiving an excellent, skills based education through the PYP, MYP, and eventually the IB-DP or Ontario curriculum.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Parent council (monthly meetings) - Parent tea (almost daily)

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Check it out. The teachers and admin are what makes the school. They are warm, friendly, and very well professional. There may be bigger, sexier, and more famous names in Singapore but no one educates children better than the Canadian School

BOGUS! And I know because I worked there! (Except for the warm friendly staff.)

Nonsense. My child has been there for 3 years and she has had almost zero academic teaching. The school takes the liberty of declaring holidays randomly, and have been academically very slack.
