Parent's Review of Australian International School in Bangkok, Australia

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Australian International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Bangkok

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International

What grade levels are represented at this school?

Nursery - 12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Montri Bus, hired drivers, or walk

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Soi 20 campus - green & inviting environment library flooded a few times roof leaking Soi 30 Campus - very little greenery like an institution - very rigid & cold Extra-curricular activities depend on if they can keep the teachers / coaches. Chess is usually a mainstay, but only offered at a certain time of year for each grade.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Nothing. No.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There is, but it's extremely hush hush. Parents and teachers tend to form their own groups - and it's better that way, so that the Head Master and Principals are unaware of how - for good reason. Parents need to talk.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Expect that only a perfect child with absolutely no problems adjusting or a popular child belongs here. Not because of the other kids. The kids are very accepting of each other. The principal and Head Master - Greg will do what ever is within their power to exclude any child they feel needs to be "punished". A number of parents agree with that. They boast community, but are open to Nothing that's occurred within the past 30 years! Not kidding. They'll find excuses to send your child home just because they feel like it. The principal and Head Master made life hell for a large number of teachers, staff, and parents - constantly calling, emailing, and instructing parents to "punish" their children.
