Malvern Girls College

In what town or city is this school located?

Malvern

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

British independent girls

What grade levels are represented at this school?

7-12

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Boarding or private car

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Fantastic facilities. Well equipped boarding houses and sports fields, tennis courts, indoor swimming pool etc. Lots of different team activities. Many clubs and societies to join. Good art department, library, computer lab etc. Nice location as girls can walk into the small town to do any shopping. Also opposite train station to London.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Teachers understand differences between different systems for students coming from another country and help transition. Extra help available. No repatriation help given as this is a British school but very good grounding for returning to the US.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Lots of opportunities to meet other parents and socialise through house luncheons, tennis parties, teas, chairty events etc. There is a "Friends of MGC" association.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Offers a fantastic education for girls where they make friends from many different countries as well as the UK since there are many from overseas.

Weekly boarding works well instead of wasting commuting time in the South and more time can be spent on study and extracurricular activities. There is a good life-skills program tackling the issues of drugs and alcohol and these are not a problem at this school. Great experience.
