What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?
Consider renting if you are not concerned about having equity. I actually looked at renting when I first planned my move and decided that buying was better. Now almost 3 years later, renting would have been a better option for me, based on current rental costs.
What type of housing do you live in? Is this typical for most expats in your area?
I live in a semi-detached 2 bedroom villa. It is typical for most expats.
How did you choose your neighborhood and find your home or apartment?
I lived in the area for 3 months trying to decide where I would choose to by my house. I found my house through an estate agent.
Are your housing costs higher or lower than they were in your home country? What is the average cost of housing there?
The housing costs were slightly higher than Florida, but the housing market has changed drastically in the past 2 years. Right now in Cyprus, you could rent a 3-bedroom villa for 500 Euros a month.
