What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?
Do your research and don't just think moving to a tropical island will be pleasure. There's always some pain involved LOL. And even though I've traveled here 15 times over 8 years before moving it's still a culture shock to be here and I learn something new every day. When you're a resident you can't live like a tourist. What type of housing do you live in? Is this typical for most expats in your area?
I live in a one-bedroom apartment and I don't really know other expats in my area. I would assume this would be quite typical.
How did you choose your neighborhood and find your home or apartment?
I had stayed as a vacationer in guest houses in this area. When I was looking for an apartment to live in I saw the ad say a street name in the area I loved so I had friends come look at it and send me photos for my approval.
Are your housing costs higher or lower than they were in your home country? What is the average cost of housing there?
My housing costs are significantly lower but it's all relative to income here so it works out the same.
