What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?

Come out on holiday first, with the intention of doing some research into the area you want to live. Coming from Britain or Ireland, it's much less of a culture shock than most destinations in the Med. Check out http://malta-howtoguide.blogspot.com/ for more details & info.

What type of housing do you live in? Is this typical for most expats in your area?

Apartment - difficult to find a house to rent in St Julians/Sliema

How did you choose your neighborhood and find your home or apartment?

St Julians/Sliema is effectively the centre of Malta in terms of bars, restaurants, beaches and everything a visitor might want or expect from Malta

Are your housing costs higher or lower than they were in your home country? What is the average cost of housing there?

Rent is about half the price of Dublin, and you get more bang for your buck. Properties for sale are more expensive than you might expect, although still cheaper than Ireland.
