What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?
Be ready for smaller domicicles than you're used to, and major differences in appliances such as the shower, toilet, and washer/dryers.
What type of housing do you live in? Is this typical for most expats in your area?
I live in a two-bedroom letting company-rented flat. I don't think there's any "typical" living situation for expats in the UK - people live in anything from flats (council, private, or letting company-rented), houses (semi-detached or detached), country manors, etc.
Are your housing costs higher or lower than they were in your home country? What is the average cost of housing there?
Both totally depend on the area.

guestIt would have been a useful report if the writer indicated where he/she was coming from. I am curious to know what it means to have smaller domiciles and different appliances (compared to Tokio or to Texas). Compared to which country. so a report like this is only useful if you have another country included!
