What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?

Speak to as many people on the internet, if you can. Have the local Chamber of Commerce send you info. As it does not cost you as the renter anything, let an agent take care of your rental needs. And remember, whilst in the states, any price can be worked with.

What type of housing do you live in? Is this typical for most expats in your area?

Initially we rented an apartment, this can be typically hard with children, although a great short term mesure, whilst you suss out which area to live in. Be careful not to sign a years lease, just in case you want to move out sooner. The get out clases can be somewhat high. Make sure you check the apartment or rental home out thoroughly first, write down any minor details/faults as well as large. Overall a good way to find out about the area's that surround you. The company Archstone has my thumbs up.

How did you choose your neighborhood and find your home or apartment?

Through Find a home, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Are your housing costs higher or lower than they were in your home country? What is the average cost of housing there?

An average 3 Bedroomed apartment is between $900-$1300 per month. Overall it is the same rent as in the UK, only with loads of facilities.
