Make sure you are willing to commit time and effort into making your home a home.
What type of housing do you live in? Is this typical for most expats in your area?
It's an apartment and yes there are tons of apartments out there, because Northern Illinois University is located in the next town over.
How did you choose your neighborhood and find your home or apartment?
We decided to move out there because it was cheaper there than where we lived and it was away from Chicago.
Are your housing costs higher or lower than they were in your home country? What is the average cost of housing there?
It's about $525 for a two bedroom.
