Comments Print

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Sebastian

What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?

This is a small but growing coastal town, a fishing village, in Florida. It is primarily a blue collar community and is growing very quickly. In the 12 years that I have lived here, home prices have gone up dramatically and I believe this trend will continue. We are the point in the tropics, the point where the tropics actually begins, to which people from the North and the South are coming. In a sense, we are the new Florida fronteer.

What type of work do you do and how did you find your job?

Sales consultant for a developer. Recruited from my previous position. Am a licensed real estate person.

How did you obtain your work permit? What advice would you have for others about work permits?

I married a U.S. citizen. Not to get my permit. But we chose to reside in the U.S. It takes patience. Be graceful. This is their home. You are the visitor. This is my home away from home and yet I want to move on. And I will, but would like some advise on relocating to Panama.

What advice would you offer others about finding jobs and working abroad?

Be professional. Put all you have into everything that you do. Give it your best shot. Perform.
