AWCC provides the opportunity to make new friends in both the English-speaking community and the host community through various cultural and social activities. Our membership includes American women who have made their lives in Germany, American women who are here for short or extended stays, and English-speaking women from a variety of different countries.
What is unique about your organization?
Our club welcomes newcomers with open arms, no matter from what country. The one thing we all have in common is that we speak English and that we are here to help each other get the most from our stay in Germany, no matter how long. We are dedicated to helping expats feel at home here, while showing them all the wonderful aspects of life in Cologne, Germany, and Europe. In the course of our cross-cultural activities we seek to promote international understanding.
What kind of activities does your group sponsor?
We have coffees in different areas of the city twice a week, monthly international dinners/wine socials/games nights with husbands or partners and ladies' night out with just women, monthly hikes and cultural events, moms & kids groups twice a week plus monthly outings, a discussion group, book club, dance classes, yoga classes, cooking classes, quarterly lectures with lunch and of course holiday parties at which we actively raise funds for local and international charities.

At least twice a week, with a general meeting every quarter.

Although our name says "American" we are open to English-speaking women of any nationality. Non-Americans in the club at first have limited voting rights, which they however attain through seniority. The Executive Board is American, but other board positions are open to any nationality. Besides America, we currently have members from Australia, Canada, Colombia, England, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Singapore, Thailand, and Turkey.
