Expat Advice: Having a Baby in Moscow

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Moscow

Describe your experience giving birth there. What type of facility did you go to? What (if any) type of pain management did you use? How long did you stay in the hospital? Was it a positive experience? Etc...

There is a useful article entitled "Giving Birth in Moscow as a Foreigner" at www.childreninmoscow.ru (Editorial page). There is also useful information given in Barbara Spier's "Living in Moscow" relocation book (visit www.livinginmoscow.ru to order a copy). Anyone considering giving birth in Moscow should speak with their embassy or consulate as well as their doctor.

I have been living in Moscow for two years. I have not given birth to a baby but I am expecting. And I am loving everything here. From all the regular checkups to everything we need to do. I want my baby know and adopt Russian culture so I am also learning what the Russian culture is all about. We have thought a nice Russian name for our baby too. And it's Elga from http://www.babynology.com/russian_babynames.html. All I say is that I can't express my feeling how happy I am.
