One member of Expat Exchange dreamed of skiing in the winter, sunbathing in the summer and enjoying a healthy lifestyle in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. In reality, the fall and spring are lovely, but the summer is too hot for sunbathing.
What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?
Bishkek
Describe how you "dreamed" expat life would be before you moved overseas. Please provide as much detail as possible.
Living in the huge apartments with mountain view, skiing in the winter weekends, sunbathing in summer, eating fresh organic food, enjoy nomadic culture and lifestyle.
How has your expat experience met the expectations you dreamed about before you moved abroad?
I live in reasonable sized apartment with the mountain view. I didn't ski due to pregnancy. I am hiding from sun in the summer as it is very hot here, though spring and autumn is lovely. I eat a lot of local grown produce but miss a lot stuff like avocados, blueberries and couscous. I go mostly to see Russian ballet rather than stay in yurt playing komuz.
How has your expat experience NOT met the expectations you dreamed about before you moved abroad?
Pity there are not many of trains running across the country. I love trains more than cars.
