Living in Angola on the Angola forum:
I'd like to more about what life is like for an American living in Angola. What things are there to do and how safe is it there?

I have lived here for 4 years and I have never had a problem. It helps to speak the language and take precautions as you would in any large city.
Hey everyone
I am looking for an expat engineering job in Angola and have a Bachelors degree in Automotive engineering and a Masters of Science in Mechanical engineering, both from UK universities. collectively, I have about one year's relevant work experience but have been unable to obtain any more experience in the UK or other parts of Europe to due to the current economical crisis.
I have been searching online for expat jobs but have only found a handful or that they require more work experience. I even treied contacting teh Angola embassy but they couldn't help (and I'm not sure how they would either).
Does anybody have any advice as to get a expat job or any recruitment agencies and companies that are hiring.
I know this is an obvious question but I have taken the obvious routes and find myself getting nowhere. any advice would help.
Thank you
Emmanuel
Hi There
Can anyone please offer me advice or opinion or stories....ANYTHING!!! About living in Angola with a one year old! My husband is being sent there for work and I am unsure whether the move with a 1yr old is such a good idea.
Dear Blobby76,
I am also looking at moving to Angola myself including a 1 year and 4 year old (I have been around and lived in Nigeria, Yemen, Tanzania, Indo, etc). The good thing about every country is that it all has his charmes. Have you moved to Angola recently and could you please share you experieces, how are you dealing with Malaria, are the kids on daily meds?
Cheers,
Eric.
It was actually more to do with immunisation as my GP refused to give her yellow fever immunisation at 9mths. Also the enquiry was about support networks, playgroups, child health nurses, availability of foreign baby products etc etc. I have been to Angola before several times and had a great time but this was as a single care-free person not as a cautious first time mother
