More Restaurants in Porto Alegre
Porto Alegre, the capital of the most southern state of Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, was founded in 1772. Its early settlers came from many European countries but mostly from Portugal, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia and much later from Japan and other Asian countries. All of these peoples left their cultural influence on our eating habits and culinary preferences, so we offer a large variety of restaurants, bistrots and pubs.
The person who lives in Rio Grande do Sul is called "Gaucho" and our typical food is not only the well known, tender "churrasco," barbecue (meat is roasted over an open flame) but also "feijoada" (black beans cooked with a wide variety of beef and pork meat) eaten with white rice, sliced oranges, chopped hard boiled eggs and green vegetables accompanied by the famous drink called "caipirinha" made with squeezed lemons, ice and" cachaca."
