American Women's Club, Community Services of Bangkok, American Chamber of Commerce, International Women's Ministry, and American Association of University Women. Any local group formed in your particular neighborhood. If you have children, become involved in their school.

In general, what are peoples' priorities in this city? For example, do lives revolve around work, family, socializing, sports, etc.?

The employed partner's life revolves around work and socializing. The accompanying partner's life revolves around social groups and volunteering. Bangkok is a hotel society..... most functions occur in hotels.

In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.

Yes, there is diversity and they are very accepting of differences. The Thais are wonderful.

What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?

Finance, oil, computer related jobs, garments and shoes, environmental related jobs, jewelry, construction, representing multi-national corporations in a business development role....... The people we know were sent to Thailand by the compani thates they work for.

If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.

Be patient, be open to other ways of living, but don't give up your individuality in order to fit in. Relax and enjoy immersing yourself in another culture. Don't expect to have things happen as they do in your home country. Adjust your expectations to a level that allows you to be comfortable and not always stressed! Be yourself!
