Expat Survey - More than 80% of Expats in Mexico are Happy There

Expats in Mexico reported shared their insights about living abroad in our recent survey to discover the Best Places to Live in 2022.

When asked about the quality of their expatriate experience, 81% of expats in Mexico reported that they are either Extremely Satisfied or Very Satisfied living there.

Here are some highlights about lifestyle-related responses from expatriates in Mexico - remember that expats were reporting on their location, not the country as a whole.

When asked about their entertainment options (movies, concerts, museums, etc.), 61% of expats, retirees and nomads reported that they were either Extremely Satisfied (27%) or Very Satisfied (34%). This is slightly LOWER than the global average.

As for local dining options, 81% indicated that they were either Extremely Satisfied (43%) or Very Satisfied (37%). This is 10 percentage points HIGHER than the global average.

Survey respondents were also asked about Local Grocery Shopping options, and 82% of respondents said they were either Extremely Satisfied (48%) or Very Satisfied (34%), which is 5 percentage points HIGHER than the national average.

Also, 91% were either Extremely Satisfied (63%) or Very Satisfied (28%) with the local fresh food, an impressive 10 points HIGHER than the national average.

When asked about the quality of their local water, 74% of expats globally reported being either Extremely Satisfied (41%) or Very Satisfied (33%), which is about even with the global average.

Overall, two-thirds of Expats (67%) reported being either Extremely Satisfied (25%) or Very Satisfied (42%) with their social life, and 73% said that they were either Extremely Satisfied (34%) or Very Satisfied (39%) with making friends locally. While the social life level of satisfaction is about even with the global average, the ease of making friends average is a full 8 points HIGHER in Mexico than the average across the world.
