What activities, clubs and organizations would you recommend to newcomers to help them meet others?
Women should join the Internation American Women's Club. It isn't just for Americans, and has members from all over the globe, mostly Americans, Brits and Canadians, and some Bermudians. And excellent way of meeting other women and finding out about everything you need to know in order to live on this surprisingly challenging (if beautiful) island. There is also a British Wives group. My advice - take it slowly and don't say anything to anyone you wouldn't want them to repeat. (Continue)

I still would love to live in Bermuda. First i really would like to get a job offer as an unskilled worker, or a home care personnel, for seniors. If there is any one with these kind of position available please let me know. My address is, sandradorothy03@yahoo.com. Thank you Sandra

What advice would you offer others about finding jobs and working abroad?
Certainly in Bermuda, it was quite easy through the Bermudian agency. We worked a six day week, which was pretty normal for catering staff. My appartment was already found for me by the resturant, this is the largest expence. (Continue)

Golf is a major way of meeting new people on this island as there an abundance of clubs, but be warned, they are expensive if you plan on making yourself a member of one. Otherwise, there is beach volleyball on Elbow Beach, or various other sports like running clubs etc. If you're not into sport, and are male, or a brave female, just turn up at The Hamilton Princess on Friday evenings in summer and get yourself a drink at Happy Hour prices and join the drunken crowds that populate that place. You'll soon meet new friends, only they may not remember meeting you the next day ! (Continue)

Defintely not the American Women's Club, they have stopped taking newcomers, don't even advertise any more. Best bet would be church, a sports activity or volunteering. (Continue)

Research, research and then research. talk to people who have been there ( and not just on holiday). Go online and listen to what people say about the place - be aware of bitter and cynical people - but then again what has turned them this way?

Go to as many sites/books/sources as you can - forewarned is forearmed (Continue)
