Aussie Brushfires and Canadian Expats

It can be a tough time for expats when there is some type of disaster in their home country. Unfortunately, we’ve seen this with the great many major terrorist attacks (in America, Spain, London, etc.) in recent history, and now again with the brushfires in Australia. Aussie expats in London have organized fundraisers to help with the brushfire relief effort. Kudos to these individuals who show it’s always possible to be and feel connected to home, even when you’ve moved abroad!

A Canadian think tank has created a report that contends that Canadian laws and regulations effectively make Canadian expats second-class citizens. They assert that the Canadian Government must help establish stronger ties to Canadian expats to take greater advantage of these “assets” for trade, health, research and financial reasons, among others.
