What advice would you offer others about finding jobs and working abroad?
Be organised. Have all of your written references from each position you have ever worked in as this is your own personal "proof" that you are worthy of getting the job which you are applying for. Also, pass your canadian driving test asap and get a car, although the transport system is good over here, sometimes companies will look more favourably on those who can drive themselves to work. Be clear, dress to impress (even if it is a casual environment, remember that you are being observed!) be polite - always to everyone no matter what. Always be the best that you can be, and you shall be recognised as such! (Continue)

Well, you are lucky that you have landed in your dreamt land. actually it's not easy being outside canada and secure job, especially when you don't have any of your relations there, As for me i am in manufacturing profession, with Bsc. in textile science and technology and with ten years work experience. I have sent so many cvs and applications in response to job alerts and there was't a response from any of them, I at a point started to feel very bad. though i am still trying to send out more resumes. somebody should please advise me on the way out. thanks

Moving-to-Vancouver
What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?
Where you move to will depend on your work. Visit first and decide which localities you like that might offer the type of employment you are engaged in. Then go job hunting or start your business. If the latter, make sure there is enough of a market to provide your business with critical mass. Too many people move to the gulf islands, stay a year then move out because they find they can't earn a living. (Continue)
