"Hello, I am preparing to move to Arequipa for a couple years next month. My wife of 12 years is from Peru, and she is VERY busy (hardly see her!) in the USA with University, so I am going to meet my Peruvian extended family, and do some volunteer work with orphans. My Spanish is only beginner. Yeah ... I would very much like to meet some English-speaking expats in Arequipa to socialize with, as my Spanish is very limited. I have Facebook, and I finally broke down and got a cell phone but I try to use it as little as possible. I don't have Whatsapp or Snapchat, but I suppose I could get them. I'm interested in physically meeting people, to hang out with. I'll be living near the Military plaza, as I have in-laws there." - TrueFrost

"I need to recharge my batteries and am looking to re-connect with some joys, such as eating great food, which Peru, and perhaps Lima in particular, has lots of. (At least Anthony Bourdain thinks so:-). I would rather not just come on a whim or "vacation", which I haven't done for years. I am an ESL teacher and would like teach (while I'm doing all that eating) and learn Spanish. Any thoughts/recommendations/suggestions? I would consider volunteering my teaching time...
