Getting a German Driver's License

Transportation here in Germany is outstanding. As far as the driver's license is concerned, get that information asap. It depends on the state you come from as to what you need to do. We waited more than 6 months, so we had to to the complete course which was very time consuming and very expensive. But, we learned a whole lot and we were able to get the books in English and also take the written test in English. But, sitting 2 nights a week in the class with all these high school kids was not fun. 2 hours each session and this went on for 6 weeks. It is just one of those things you have to do. But, it all depends on what state you come from. With luck, you come from a state where they will just exchange for a German license. But, it has to all be completed withing 6 months. And you have to go to the ADAC AND have your license translated. (Note: this tip was submitted to Expat Exchange in an anonymous survey)
