Finding Time to Travel is More Difficult When Your Kids are Older

We had expected to travel a lot on weekends, but with kids in school that did not happen. They have too many school related responsibilities to go away. People with small children have much more freedom to take kids out of school to travel. Once they get older they can't afford to miss too much class and/or sports team activities. We travel at half term breaks and Christmas. We visit home in the summer. We have two older children in school in the US so I go back and forth to get them situated and visit. (Note: This tip was submitted anonymously by an Expat Exchange reader in a survey.)
