Registering a previously-owned car in Cyprus

When you buy a previously-owned car in Cyprus and have to register it/transfer ownership, you must go to the Department of transportation office with the following documents: proof of insurance in your name, passport, and logbook (current registration document). You fill out and sign the transfer form (forms are available in English and Greek) - it is easiest if the current owner comes with you to do this as you both have to sign the form. You pay the fee, which is around 15 Euros, an they complete the transfer immediately and provide you with the new logbook/registration document. There is no need to make an appointment, but to avoid waiting, go early in the morning and not on a Monday. Though not technically required, it is always wise to bring a copy of your home purchase contract/rental agreement and recent utility bills. I find that government offices typically require these documents so any time I go to a government office to perform some kind of transaction, I bring these with me along with my residency permit.
