Transferring your driver's license to a Cypriot driver's license

To transfer your driver's license to a Cypriot driver's license, you must go to the department of transportation office with the following documents: your current driver's license, passport, residency permit, copies of recent utility bills, a copy of your home purchase contract/rental agreement, and 2 copies of a passport size photo. Obviously, if you drive there, you may be asked to show your logbook/car registration and proof of insurance. The clerk there will help you complete a form and verify that your documents are in order. Then you will be directed to another desk to pay the fee and get your new license. Note that you cannot change your driver's license to a Cypriot license until you have lived in Cyprus for 6 months, based on the date on your residency permit. The Cypriot DOT is quite familiar with UK driver's licenses but not with US driver's licenses. As a result, if you have a motorcycle endorsement on your US license, they will not transfer it because it is not in the same format as the UK license that they are familiar with. Additionally, UK licenses specify whether you can drive manual or automatic; US driver's licenses do not, so you will be asked about whether your car is automatic or manual.
