Short Term Rental = Long Term Savings
View/Add Comments (0 Comments) |
If you're moving to Cuenca, start with a three to six month rental. Every neighborhood in Cuenca is different, and many buildings have their own character dictated by the residents. Instead of being stuck somewhere you don't like, you can test out a neighborhood by renting a smaller, cheaper place and seeing how well you really like things. Then, when you're ready to settle in permanently, you'll be more confident in your decision and better educated about what you're really getting into when you sign a long-term lease or buy a place. In the 4 years I've been in Cuenca, a pattern I see often is early enthusiasm for the place expressed by buying a property. But, without really getting to know the neighborhood (and the neighbors) there are unexpected surprises, expenses, or it flat out just isn't right for the whole family. You're stuck with an albatross around your neck and out serious money ... all of which can be avoided by renting first!
