Taking Credit/Debit Cards Abroad

Many credit cards and debit cards have a built in fee called a "foreign transaction fee". This fee will charge you about 3-5% more on all items you buy with your credit card while you are abroad. That is, if the transaction go through and you card doesn't get blocked. Make sure to alert your bank of the exact dates you are leaving and coming back to your home country so they don't block your cards! P.S. Many banks also have credit cards that don't charge this foreign transaction fee. The Travel Rewards credit card from Bank of America is one, also a couple at CapitalOne bank don't charge the fee either.
