Comparing Your Country to Theirs

When moving abroad, it's important to keep an open mind. The idea is to learn about their culture, not impose your beliefs, values and cultural habits on them. This will just leave you bitter. If and when you make comparisons to your country, be careful not to say them in a degrading way. Though you may be right about a problem you address, though the person you are speaking with might share your same opinion, you still need to be careful not to offend. Many people are passionate about their country and they want you to leave with the best image possible. Being negative all the time could leave your friends resentful of you.
