Retiring in Ireland

Many people know, but some may not: If you are receiving US Social Security, the Social Security Administration will pay the costs associated with direct deposit of your check to your bank account in Ireland. If you are receiving direct deposit to a US bank, upon arrival in Ireland, after establishing your residence and a bank account, call the US embassy in Dublin. They will assist with getting the deposit changed from the US to your Irish bank account. (There is a form on their website for ease of contact.)
