To Car or Not to Car?

In less than 30 days, I'll be starting my new life as a retiree in Ireland. In planning this move, I had to figure out how I could cut corners and be able to live on Social Security. One of the major cost-saving cuts was the decision to not have a car. Now, coming from Southern California, this will surely be quite the shock to my system; however, I am actually looking forward to relying on my own two feet, a bicycle, and bus and train. Ireland has a great bus and train transport system. I have not lived there, but I have traveled rather extensively on 4 different occasions and found both the bus and the train to be delightful ways to travel. Of course, on cannot be in a huge hurry - but then, I won't be! One of the very things I'm looking forward to. So if you are wondering about driving in Ireland, how about NOT? It is do-able. Give it a try! UPDATE 2016: Worked brilliantly! Got by just fine without a car and enjoyed bus and train travel.
