Rent a Scooter in Rome

Sometimes you just have to lose yourself in the cliches of certain cities. In Paris you have to walk along the Seine with your lover at sunset. In Milan you have to wear big sunglasses, dress fancy and act like the locals. In Rome however, there are quite a few cliches and one of them is experiencing the city on a scooter!
I've been to Rome twice, and I always recommend anyone informing me of their intentions to go, that it is imperative that they rent a scooter to experience the city with. Yes, Romans drive like demons out of hell, but you have to go with the flow. If you drive overly carefully, you'll most likely cause an accident.
And don't worry about getting lost...that is half of the fun! You won't need much time to familiarize yourself with the major sites in the city, which you can then use as beacons to guide yourself back to your hotel. Be careful though where you park your rented scooter, as Rome is crawling with Police who are always on the lookout for someone they can write a ticket to!
Also be sure to get insurance on your scooter, it's definitely worth the peace of mind!
